Zikr Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on May 4, 2017

Protection against sin lies in picturing the Day of Qiyamah. When a person reflects on standing before Allah SWT, and the presentation of his deeds, then it becomes the ‘brakes’ which stops the ‘car of nafs’ speeding towards ghunaa (sin). The struggle of life in this dunya is to reverse off the road of sin, onto the ‘autobahn’ of Taqwa. Allah Rabbul Izzat loves when a person holds the nafs back from it’s desires. Allah SWT mentions in the Holy Quran, ‘Waliman khafa maqama rabbihijannatan’ – the person who fears standing before his Rabb will get two Jannahs. Allama Alusi (R) explains beautifully in Ruh al-Ma’ani that one Jannah will be that of the Aakhirah, and this Dunya too will become Jannah for such a person, as he will be constantly under the Mercy of Allah SWT. The heart that is in the Thikr (remembrance) of Allah SWT will find absolute peace and contentment. We should hold fast to, and make a practice of reading short Ayahs relating to Islah-e-Nafs and Ihsan, so that in a moment of weakness we will be reminded through it. Just as we renew our wudhu when it breaks, if we ‘break’ our Taqwa by committing sin, take the ‘ghusl of Taubah’ and restore Taqwa. The struggle against the nafs continues till death, but even if the nafs knocks us down from time to time, we do not give up and become despondent but keep fighting back, till death. Allah SWT has kept open the door of Taubah, and desires to manifest His attribute of Forgiveness upon His sinful servants.
