Zikr Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on April 13, 2017

The best Munajat is Suratul Fatihah. Through it Allah SWT teaches us the method of supplication, so that we supplicate in such a manner that gains His immediate acceptance. Dua is a great form of Ibadah. If we make dua in the correct manner we will receive what we are asking for, and be rewarded. The poetry ‘Gunaahon ki aadat chura mere Maula’ is a very beautiful and meaningful Munajat. The poet asks of Allah, ‘Give me the ability to give up the habit of sin’. The terrible habit of sin where there is no remorse, a person relishes that sin, and does not have the willpower to give it up, is a dangerous situation. Besides beseeching Allah SWT for courage, we must ‘exercise’ willpower in order to overcome the habit of sin. The poet asks Allah SWT to make him Pious i.e. ‘Salih’, which we too should make dua and strive for. The Saliheen are amongst those upon whom Allah SWT has showered His favour, and are included in the dua of millions of Muslims through the recitation of ‘Attihayaat’ in Salaah. We must be constantly conscious of our failings and transgressions, and not claim to be pious as that is the route of pride. At the same time we must not be despondent and dwell on our sins. The important lesson of how to manoeuvre between these two conditions has been taught by our Akabireen. The poet asks Allah SWT to make all his progeny until the day of Qiyamah true Aashiqs of Mustafa (SAW). Those who are guilty of even major sins, but have true love for Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) will gain his intercession on the day of Qiyamah.
