Ma’rifah and Method in Du’a of Hajah – Masjid Al Fatah, La Lucia

Ma’rifah and Method in Du’a of Hajah - Masjid Al Fatah, La Lucia

Zikr Majlis, at La Lucia on August 29, 2024

From the beautiful teachings of our beloved Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam to confront calamity and seek the fulfilment of one’s needs is by reading 2 rak’ats Salatul Hajah and making Du’a. Whilst Du’a articulated in one’s own language will definitely benefit, his Du’as are filled with Ma’rifah and etiquette and thus have an even greater effect. The Du’a recited by him after Salatul Hajah is:
La ilaha illallahu-l Haleemul Kareemu, Subhanallahi-l ‘arshil ‘azeem, Alhamdulillahi rabbil ‘Alameen. As’aluka mujibati rahmatik, wa’aza’ima maghfiratik, wa’l ghanimata min kulli birr, wassalamati min kulli ism. La tada’li dhanban illa ghafartahu wala hamman illa farrajtahu wala hajatan hiya laka ridan illa qadaytaha, ya Arhamar Rahimeen.
?The first 3 phrases of the Du’a entail negating all power besides Allah Ta’ala, mentioning His beautiful attributes of Haleem (tolerance) and Kareem (He who grants to the undeserving), glorifying Him as the Lord of the Mighty Throne and praising Him as the Sustainer of the universe. In the remaining 4 phrases Nabi-Karim Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam supplicates seeking the factors that will make Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy compulsorily directed towards one, ?the factors that guarantee one’s Maghfirah (forgiveness), safety and protection from sin, and ?a full share of good deeds. The Du’a concludes seeking removal of all sins from one’s book of deeds and all worries and grief, and the fulfilment of the needs of dunya and Akhirah with ease.
