MOTIVATION FOR THE MU’MINAH - Family relationships & Sahabiyat (RA) - Amazing examples for the Muslimah
Ladies Programme, at Westville on July 24, 2024
In today’s world where little importance is given to family and maintaining family ties, inspiration is drawn from the Sahabiyat (RA) who set a beautiful example in upholding family relationships. Allah Ta’ala exhorts the Believers in the Qur’an to maintain good relationships with parents and never to be disrespectful towards them even if they are disbelievers. Asmaa (RA) displayed this noble quality in the kind treatment of her non-Muslim mother. Through the exemplary service and care of her beloved father, Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, Sayyidah Fatimah (RA) earned the unique title of “Umme-Abiha” – mother of her father! The Sahabiyat (RA) were intense in their love for their siblings. They displayed of great love for them and deep grief at the loss of their siblings, as seen in the examples of Sayyidah Aishah, Sayyidah Fatimah and Safiyyah bint Abdul Mutallib (RA). The women of Quraysh were praised by Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in being outstanding in their love for their children, and giving them a good upbringing with compassion. The amazing service of the Sahabiyat (RA) to their husbands is seen in the lives of the wives and daughters of Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, who were all paragons of loyalty, chastity and love. Sadly, today these beautiful teachings of Islam have been discarded, resulting in disunity and the breakdown of family relationships. May Allah remove bad traits and improve and strengthen family relations.
