At difficult times like these, it is extremely important to build in ourselves sympathy, kindness and generosity towards others, and as aspiration to help others. Allah loves those who show mercy to the creation, He will show mercy to us. We must forsake selfishness and adopt selflessness. A Believer is caring, sharing, alert and aware of the plight of others. A person who is helping others gets the reward of jihad, like someone in Nafl Salah the entire night or someone fasting continuously. An opportunity has been afforded to us by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to help the needy. We should all give according to our means. The best of people are those that benefit others. We should display our best Akhlaq and our generosity should be expansive. Don’t cut the salaries and wages of our staff and domestic workers. By being generous and open-hearted Allah will help us and be generous with us. If society doesn’t come forward to assist the needy, it could be disastrous for everyone.
