Surah Fatiha is the surah which every Muslim must compulsorily know and recite. Allah Ta’ala Himself praises this Surah. It is as if this Surah is the exact text of the Quran and the rest of Quran is the explanation. When we recite this Surah in Salaah, then Allah replies to every verse. Every type of praise belongs to Allah alone. Whether a person is wealthy, pious, learned, fit or healthy, all these things have been granted by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, so all praise goes back to Him. If anyone praises us, immediately say Alhamdulillah, nothing belongs to us. All goes back to Allah. If we remember this, no Muslim will have any pride in his heart. If we are proud of what we have, then we have forgotten the lesson of “Alhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen”. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala then introduces Himself with the two qualities of Rahman and Raheem. Allah’s mercy is so great and vast that a person should never lose hope in the mercy of Allah. The servants of the Merciful should adopt the qualities of compassion, kindness and mercy. The more this quality is within a person, the closer he is to Allah. Of all the qualities that Allah loves, it is the quality of Mercy. Nabi (SAW) has been described as “Rahmatul lil aalameen.”
