The beautiful poetry recited ‘Ay Khuda Mujhko Aasoo Ka Darya Bhi De’ which is filled with lesson, was composed by Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Akhtar Sahib (R) whom All?h SWT blessed with a heart filled with His love. Hazrat requests, ‘O Allah, grant me the enjoyment of the garden as well as of the desert’ alluding to the enjoyment of good company and solitude and the desire to draw close to Allah SWT in both conditions of happiness and grief. The dua of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) for the companionship of those who love Allah through which His love is gained is expressed in these verses. Then, when a person’s ‘ship’ is in ‘stormy oceans’ he will have no fear being aware that the Owner of the land and the Owner of the oceans, Allah SWT will captain his ‘ship’ to the safety of the shore. There are countless such stories in the history of the Ummah, such as the Hijrah of our beloved Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW). In the cave of Thaur, when Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddique RA was perturbed and filled with fear for the safety of Nabi (SAW), Nabi (SAW) gives him consolation with the words, ‘La tahzan, innAllaha ma’ana’ - ‘Do not grieve, Allah is with us’. The poetry concludes with beautiful duas for rivers of tears that flow from the eyes out of love for Allah SWT and His Rasul (SAW), the bounty of knowledge and the slogan of love on the lips. The endeavour for knowledge is the essence of the Believer along with the Zikr of Allah SWT which should be a constant occupation, particularly Durood Shareef which is the ‘MasterKey’ that opens all locks!
