With the blessed month of Ramadan being a matter of hours away, in emulation of a great Sunnah the sermon given by Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) on the last day of Sha’ban is being read. In this sermon, amongst other virtues and advices, it is explained that in Ramadan rewards for deeds are multiplied and that it is a month of patience, sympathy and one in which a Believer’s sustenance is increased. There are many other important narrations relating to Ramadan in which virtues are mentioned, as well as strong warnings for those who don’t pay due attention and appreciate this great month. Heed the announcements of the Malaikah by surging ahead in good deeds and avoid spoiling this month with the commission of sin. One of the most important and effective advices relating to Ramadan is to adhere to a good timetable, which will be a means of barakah and enable us to take maximum benefit from this month. Set some targets and push yourself to achieve more than in the past Ramadans! Pressurize and trick the nafs when it tempts towards laziness, so that you can maximise on the different acts of Ibadah. The techniques of controlling the nafs so as to overcome the obstacles in the path of the fulfilment of the Shariah and sail in the plane of obedience of Allah SWT which is in essence Tariqah and Tasawwuf.
