Sunnah in Married Life - Masjid Al Hilal
Jumuah, at Musjid-Al-Hilal on December 1, 2017
Every aspect of our beloved Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is most unique, amazing and wonderful. Whether it is the political, social, economic, community or family life, every aspect is unique and beautiful. Allah SWT has declared in the Holy Quran that:
“Verily in the Messenger of Allah you have the best of role models.”
Thus anyone who desires to become the beloved of Allah SWT should meticulously follow the example of Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Step by step, every teaching and every guidance from him should be inculcated and implemented in our lives.
With regards to married life, the example set by Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was of being kind, gentle, loving, compassionate and merciful towards wives. Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:
“The most perfect of you in faith, are those people who are most perfect in their character. The best amongst you are the best in the treatment of their families and from all of you I am the best in the manner/way in which I treat my family.”
Not only did Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) give advices, but he lived to the letter on these principles. Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) always entered the home with salaam and always smiling (a smile is one crooked thing that can make everything straight). Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) would be involved in domestic chores at home.
Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) would spend time with his wives and talk to them. There would be moments of lightheartness and he would even tell them stories. Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) would eat from the same plate or piece of flesh or drink from the same glass of Hazrat Ayesha (RA).
Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) relationship with his wives was full of love and compassion. Husband and wife should be best friends and each others confidants. May Allah Rabbul Izzat bless all marriages with love and mercy and pattern these marriages on the marriages of Nabi e Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
