Revive the practice of seeking advice - Part 2
Jumuah, at Musjid ut Taqwa on August 4, 2017
There was great importance of seeking advice among Sahaba RA. Once a Sahabi RA said: O Nabi (SAW), give me advice. He said: “Don’t get angry, don’t get angry and repeated it over and over again. Sahaba RA used to advice each other. There was an ongoing practice of seeking and giving advice. The real advice is person to person and heart to heart. Mere accumulation of knowledge is not sufficient, but there must be transformation in a person, then only comes salvation and elevation (higher ranks of Jannah).
On one occasion when Muadh RA told Nabi (SAW) to give him advice, Nabi (SAW) gave him the following advices:
1. Develop the quality of Ihsan. Worship Allah Ta’ala as if you are seeing him, become Allah conscious. Ihsan is “Worshipping Allah Ta’ala as if you are seeing Allah and if you do not attain this station, then feel that Allah is seeing you”.
2. Count yourself amongst the death. Behave in such a way that you have left this world. This means that just like a dead person doesn’t criticize, doesn’t react, argue, or have love or desire for anything. His aspirations are for Aakhirah.
3. Remember Allah Ta’ala excessively even in front of rocks, plants and trees. Because these things will testimony for us on the Day of Judgement. Even in holidays or vacations, we can make good intentions of spreading Salam, practice of Sunnah and will make Dhikr there. All this will testify for us on the Day of Judgement.
4. If you commit a sin, then immediately follow it up with a good deed, it will wipe out the effects of bad deeds. We are humans, we will sin, but follow it with some good actions. This will break the back of shaitan. Good actions that we can follow up with are; reading Tauba Salah, making Istiqfaar, or doing some act of Charity. One bad deed will attract another bad deed and another. A black spot will be formed, until such a point comes until his whole heart will become corroded. It is like a chain reaction, if a person breaks this chain, then one good deed will attract another good deed and the committing of more and more sins will be stopped.
