Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on March 6, 2017

The greatest form of Jihad in this day and age is to keep the tongue under control. Regarding the tongue Hazrat Fudhail bin ‘Iyadh (R) said, ‘Safeguard the tongue, for all types of good and all kinds of evil emanate from this piece of flesh which does not have a bone structure’. He further advised, ‘Guard your tongue, remain engrossed in your own affairs, know the happenings of your time and keep a low profile’. A lot of complications in life arise out of being high profile, therefore a person should aspire to keep a low profile as in that is safety and peace of heart and mind. A person must not be oblivious to what is happening in the world. He should be aware of the vices that are prevalent and in what direction society is going in order to safeguard himself and his family from harm. Amr bin Ma’roof wa Nahi Anil Munkar is the hallmark of the Ulama, that when they see something wrong they bring it to the attention of the public, however this must be done with wisdom, love, compassion and sincerity. The favours of Allah are to be enjoyed and used, as long as the intention is correct and there is no ostentation. When evil gazes fall on the bounties which a person enjoys it will cause him harm and he may suffer losses. Rather we should adopt a low profile while enjoying these bounties, and be immersed in the gratitude of Allah SWT. By accumulating the wealth of the advices of the Ahlullah without practicing upon them, we subject ourselves to spiritual starvation. Rather we should reflect, ponder and practice upon these valuable advices.
