The reality of the day of Qiyamah must be kept in front of us at all times. Allah SWT has repeatedly warned us in the Quran and Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) in the Ahadith about the terror and turmoil of that day. The only people who will have hope on that day are those who will gain the shafa’at (intercession) of those whom Allah SWT will grant permission to make shafa’at. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) will have the greatest power of shafa’at on the day of Qiyamah, and those fortunate people who gain his shafa’at will be pleased and will celebrate. We should try our best to draw close to Rasool (SAW) in this life in order to gain closeness to him on the day of Qiyamah. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) mentioned that those who will be closest to him on the day of Qiyamah are those who used to recite the most Salawaat upon him. He also mentioned that those who are the most deserving of being around him on the day of Qiyamah are the people of Taqwa. When we follow the Sunnah in every aspect of life it is as if we are spending every minute in his company, as if we are ‘seeing’ him in our mind’s eye. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) will pay special attention to those who are in his close company on the day of Qiyamah. He will make dua for them as they cross the Siraat, they will enter into Jannah with him and will gain his company in Jannah. Allah SWT has given Muslims this wonderful opportunity to gain this closeness to Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW), therefore we should strive to be amongst the fortunate ones who achieve this great honour on the day of Qiyamah.
