The importance of following the sunnats of Nabi (SAW)

Allah SWT has kept the treasures of the universe below the feet of that Believer who loves and practises upon the Sunnah of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW). The Sahabah RA and the Tabi’een were victorious on the battlefields and over the hearts’ of people on the basis of Itibaa-e-Sunnah. Through the barakah of the companionship of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW), Allah Rabbul Izzat transformed and elevated those who were looked down upon by society into shining stars of guidance. Clear examples from the Sahabah RA are Hazrat Umar RA and Hazrat Bilal Habshi RA. The great personalities of Islam have emphasized the importance of following the Sunnah as a means of salvation and in order to achieve prosperity. If a firm commitment is made collectively by the Ummah to follow the Sunnah, Allah SWT will turn the hurricanes of problems and calamities lashing the ship of the Ummah into calm waters. When a person’s heart is connected to Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) and leads his life according to the Sunnah, outside conditions may be adverse but inwardly there will be peace. The following of the Sunnah is not confined to the physical aspects alone, but also to the aspects of the heart such as to have ta’awazzu, taqwa, ita’at etc. as Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) was the epitome of these beautiful attributes. We should constantly be conscious of the Sunnah, make Istighfaar for the areas in which we are lacking and rectify our practise of both the outward and inner aspects in order to achieve complete Itibaa.
