Spiritual diseases – more dangerous than physical ones – Part 1

Spiritual diseases - more dangerous than physical ones - Part 1

Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on February 29, 2016

Spiritual illnesses are far more dangerous and destructive than physical illnesses. Despite this, the extent of concern and awareness for remedying spiritual illness is greatly lacking when compared to that shown by a person and those around him when he becomes afflicted by a physical illness. A person may be content to continue living with these spiritual diseases, or may not even be aware of their condition as a result of heedlessness. The Ulama and Mashaaikh are the spiritual doctors and specialists who have listed and defined the spiritual diseases, as well as the symptoms, effects and remedies of such diseases. Some pain, difficulty and sacrifice is required to attain spiritual cure, in a similar manner to a person who undergoes tests and operations in order to attain physical cure from a disease. Once a person has attained spiritual cure, the body may be wreaked with sickness but the Ruh will be healthy and strong. The body in any condition is going to disintegrate in the qabr, however the Ruh which is released upon maut will meet with Allah Rabbul Izzat. The person who presents ‘Qalboon Saleem’ – a sound, healthy spiritual heart will attain salvation in the Aakhirah. Nabi (SAW) mentioned in the Ahadith that a person with the extent of even a mustard seed of pride will not be allowed entry into Jannah, therefore we should strive for complete spiritual cure in the same manner a person with cancer will not be satisfied until no trace of the disease remains.
