Rust Remover for Rusted Hearts - Marlboro Jaame Masjid, JHB
Zikr Majlis, at Johannesburg on August 15, 2024
Allah Ta’ala created every human being with a pure and sound heart on fitrah – the natural disposition of Iman and obedience to Him. Unfortunately, like the Hajrul-Aswad which turned from milk-white to black due to the sins of man, the heart of Insan similarly becomes darkened and corroded. If the rust-remover of repentance is applied, the heart becomes pure once again, however if one persists in sin, the heart eventually becomes so blackened that one becomes unable to differentiate between truth and falsehood – a dangerous condition! Every person must make a concerted effort to remove the rust of the heart as according to the Hadith, once the heart has been rectified, good actions will flow from it. Nabi-Kareem (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) explains that the polisher of the heart is Zikrullah, however it has to be applied with consistency and concentration to have the desired effect. Mawlana Rumi (R) warns against being beguiled by shaytan into abandoning Zikr due to lack of enjoyment or doubting the benefit or acceptance, as like consistent drops of water eventually form a hole in a rock, Zikr done with steadfastness definitely impacts the heart. For one’s tongue to be engaged in Zikr itself is a great favour from Allah, and each subsequent taking of His name is a sign of acceptance! Zikrullah in abundance is established in the Qur’an as a quality of His loyal, true and beloved servants. It is necessary to remove the stains on the heart, restoring it to its original sound condition which is what will be demanded from one on Yawmul Qiyamah, as per the verses of the Qur’an.
