6 modes of intercession
Zikr Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on July 16, 2020
The Sahabah (RA) learnt the Deen by posing appropriate and intelligent questions, which Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would respond to. On one occasion, the Shaikhul Hadith of this Ummah, Abu Huraira (RA) asked: “O Nabi of Allah, who will benefit most from your intercession on the Day of Qiyamah?” Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) praised Abu Huraira’s (RA) eagerness, then said, “The person who will benefit the most from my intercession on the Day of Qiyamah is the person who said La ilaha illallah sincerely from his heart or from his soul.” The two interpretations of this Hadith are the benefit of intercession for one who accepted Islam then passed away lacking in deeds to propel him into Jannah, and the sincere reader of the Kalimah destined to punishment due to sins. One of the great commentators of Bukhari Shareef, Allamah ‘Ayni (R) has mentioned 6 modes of intercession of Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). The first is “Shafa’atul Kubra” where he will intercede to Allah SWT on behalf of all of mankind for the reckoning to begin, proving his superiority and great status. He will also intercede for punishment of certain non-Muslims to be lightened, such as Abu Talib; for the salvation of the Believers in Jahannam because of their misdeeds; for those destined for Jahannam to be granted Jannah; for the entry of certain Believers into Jannah without reckoning; and lastly, for the elevation of the ranks of certain Believers in Jannah. May Allah SWT in His Infinite Grace make us from those fortunate ones!
