The Sermons of Nabi (SAW) Part 4
Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on July 6, 2020
At the time of the conquest of Makkah which took place in 7AH, Nabi-Karim (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) delivered a sterling sermon. Abdullah bin Umar RA narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) was standing on the steps leading to the Ka’aba and he began by praising Allah Ta’ala Who fulfilled His promise that he would return to Makkah victoriously. It was a bloodless victory, unprecedented in the history of mankind, with many entering the fold of Islam. He made it clear that after Islam has been established, the evil of the days of jahiliyyah, including pride and murder which was prevalent amongst the people of Makkah, have been trampled beneath his feet i.e. he has come to eradicate these evils. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) established the privilege of the service of Hujjjaj and Baitullah. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) performed Tawaaf riding on his camel Qaswa because the crowd was very large, making it easy for him to address the people and so that his actions could be observed. Thereafter, addressing the people once more from his camel, Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said. ‘O people, Allah SWT has eliminated the pride of the days of jahiliyyah, and the pride in your forefathers.’ There are only 2 categories of people in the eyes of Allah – the one who has Taqwa is honourable and the one who is sinful and wretched is insignificant, quoting Verse 13 of Surah Hujurat as substantiation. He concluded the sermon seeking forgiveness for himself, the Muslims that were present and the Ummah.
