“Don’t compare with those who have more than you.........”
A big human weakness and shortcoming that needs rectification and reformation is COMPARISON. That is always comparing ourselves with others in material aspects. This is very detrimental and results in UNGRATEFULNESS, even though we have been blessed with a lot more than others. This also leads to jealously and malice and enmity. Therefore don't compare with those who have more than you because then it will cause you to belittle the blessings of Allah SWT upon you.
The habit of comparing is not a useful thing as many a times we don't have control over our appearance, earnings or health, etc. However if we must compare, look at those who have less than us as far as material things are concerned. This will lead to GRATITUDE.
When it comes to spiritual and Deeni aspects then compare yourself to those who are higher/better than you. And aspire to increase in knowledge, piety and Ibaadah. We are encouraged to compete in good actions - actions of the Aakhirah. Thus the person, who always looks upto those who are better than him in Deen and looks to those who are lesser than him in worldly wealth, will be written down in the books of Allah SWT as a SHAAKIR AND SAABIR (Patient & Grateful).
