Ignorance - a spiritual malady P9
Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on November 14, 2016
There is a great degree of negligence in the Ummah with regard to the importance of the acquisition of knowledge. The choice of ignorance over knowledge is one of the factors contributing towards the retrogression and deterioration in the condition of the Muslim Ummah. The importance Sahaba attached to knowledge, and the amount of sacrifice they made to acquire it is what gave them great rank and status. They gave scant regard to worldly wealth in comparison to the wealth of knowledge, and would spend maximum time in the company of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) in order to draw deeply from his ocean of knowledge. Their enthusiasm was such that they would embark on partnerships in business, so that they would work alternate days and spend the free days gaining the gems and advices of Nabi-e-Kareem which they would share with each other. When Allah Ta’ala desires good for a person, He gives him the knowledge and understanding of Deen, which enables him to interpret that knowledge correctly. A person will be granted benefit depending on their attitude towards knowledge. The person who has sincere desire will be granted full measure by Allah SWT such, that there will not only be an increase in information, but he will be granted the taufeeq to practice upon and propagate that knowledge. Inspiration can be taken from Pious Akabireen such as Hazrat Shah Wasiullah Allahabadi (R) and Hazrat Allamah Ibraheem Balyavi (R) who made such sacrifices in the acquisition of knowledge that Allah Ta’ala then elevated them to ranks beyond our imagination.
