Press the RESET Button this Ramadan - Summerglades Musallah
Jumuah, at Summerglades Musallah on March 7, 2025
We are fortunate to witness the first Jumuah of Ramadan, in which the Ummah is engaged in various acts of ibadah - fasting, Tarawih, Tilawah & acts of charity - in full swing
Even more fortunate are those granted death in Ramadan; a beautiful death comes to those who made a good effort throughout their lives - a clear example of this being the famous personality of Durban, Mawlana Yunus Patel (R)
Ramadan has come for us to press the ‘Reset button’ on our lives so that we break out of our bad ways & habits & we cultivate & develop self discipline
Ramadan is a month of sabr; the believer should be an embodiment of tolerance & patience, but sadly we find the opposite happening, sometimes causing embarrassment for the entire Muslim community!
Nabi-Karim (SAW) taught the Ummah to abstain from arguing when provoked whilst fasting; the one who avoids being argumentative even when in the right earns the 'real estate' of Jannah!
The evil habits to be broken are swearing, lying, backbiting (spoken & written), anger, smoking, etc. Ramadan is the month to make a resolution to press the ‘reset button’ & come out of these habits
Allah gave us this beautiful gift of Ramadan, not just for rewards & the acceptance of dua, but to engage in self-reformation - this is the true appreciation of Ramadan!
