Significance of Mi’raj

Significance of Mi’raj

Special Programme, at Musjid ut Taqwa on March 10, 2021

The greatest miracle granted to Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam after the Holy Qur’an is the Mi’raj. Reflecting on this event is a means of bolstering the level of our Iman, fortifying the greatness of Allah Ta’ala in our hearts. After losing two great pillars of support - his beloved uncle Abu Talib and Sayyida Khadija (RA), and the trials he underwent in what became known as Aamul-Huzn (the year of grief), Allah Ta’ala granted Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam consolation in the form of the Mi’raj. He was bestowed with honours at every stage of the journey, leading the Ambiya (AS) in Salah and proceeding beyond the Sidratul Muntaha, and eventually granted the great gift of Salah. The Mi’raj thus confirms the two greatest aspects in the life of a Believer – Iman and Salah which is in reality the sum total of Deen. Allah Ta’ala chose Masjid Al-Aqsa as the starting point of the journey of Mi’raj, highlighting its importance and significance as a place of immense virtue throughout history. Allah Ta’ala raised Salahuddin Ayyubi (R) to liberate Masjid Al-Aqsa from the Crusaders. It should be noted that Masjid Al-Aqsa is a barometer of the condition and obedience of the Ummah, therefore effort is required to revive our Iman and strengthen our Deen and create the atmosphere of Badr in crying and turning to Allah Ta’ala to secure its liberation once more.
