The general condition of the Ummah today is one of weakness and degradation despite the glorious history of Islam. The main reason or cause is the neglect of the Quran, which Allah Ta’ala has given us as a constitution and guidebook on which to pattern our lives. Sahabah-e-Kiraam RA in whose hearts’ Iman was mightier than mountains meticulously practiced on the Sunnah. The perfect way of life of the Sunnah today is disregarded and considered old-fashioned. The Shariah is the law of Allah SWT which must be implemented in all aspects of life, but are being grossly neglected. We have become so weak through the love of comfort and luxury that we do not wish to sacrifice for the Deen of Allah SWT. The condition of the Ummah is such that the enemies of Islam have no fear for the Muslims. Nabi ? predicted that when the love of the things of this world and the fear of death overtakes the Ummah, then they will become like a morsel of food in the hands of the enemies. When we became so our esteem and status fell in the eyes of Allah SWT, and the enemy became bold and brave against us. Through the journey of Hajj Allah SWT teaches us that one can actually live with very little, and that we should not be so dependent on and desirous of the luxuries and comforts of this world.
