Shariah & Tasawwuf are not opposite entities. An ideology opposite to this is ignorance. Shariah relates to the physical aspects of Deen; & Tasawwuf relates to its inner dimensions, ie. Kayfiyaate Imani(spiritual feelings). Shariah is like an outer shell & without Tasawwuf this shell remains empty. Those who desire to practice the Shariah in totality, adopt this path of Tasawwuf which creates a new Rooh (spirit) & Anwaaraat (diff Noors) in every action of Shariah. Tasawwuf in a nutshell is Tazkiyatun Nafs(purification of the inner self) & Tahzee ul-Akhlaq (reformation of character) which is the main function of a TRUE Khanqa.
