Surah A’la, the Musabbihat & ease in Deen
Jumuah, at Musjid ut Taqwa on March 5, 2021
Surah A’la is a Makki Surah comprising of 19 verses, which Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam would recite frequently in Jumu’ah, Eid and Witr Salah, indicating to its importance and significance. Surah A’la is the last and the shortest of the seven Surahs beginning with the Tasbih of Allah Ta’ala, known as the Musabbihat. Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam mentioned that whoever reads the Musabbihat on a Thursday night will be granted forgiveness by Allah Ta’ala, and he would read the Musabbihat every night before retiring to bed. There is ample opportunity to earn unlimited rewards for the Believer who is conscious and practices on these teachings. A valuable principle is to practice what is within one’s ability, and Allah Ta’ala will open the doors of Tawfiq for one to progress in Deen and practice on that which seemed difficult. In reality, Deen is easy, a simple example being the five daily Salah – the gift of the Mi’raj - which becomes difficult to miss once the habit is formed. At a minimum, read the Musabbihat even once a week or on the special occasions like Ramadan which is around the corner. Prepare for the spiritual ‘marathon’ of Ramadan by intensifying in good actions, especially Istighfar, and reducing distractions, so that we are purified and ready to gain the benefits and rewards from the very first moments of holy Ramadan!
