The true adornment of a home is not in the furniture and ornaments, but rather it is in the Zikr of Allah Ta’ala, Tilawah of Qur’an, reading of Ahadith and the A’mal-Saliha that takes place within it. Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam warned the Ummah not to make our homes into graveyards by neglecting the performance of Salah therein. Brighten and illuminate our homes with Salah and the Zikr of Allah Ta’ala, otherwise we can have the brightest of lights, but in reality, the home is dark. Allah grant us Tawfiq that daily, we try to fully adorn and illuminate our homes with Ibadah. Sahaba-Kiraam (RA) were very conscious of this; Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) had a practice of dividing the night into 3 parts between the members of his household, so that at all times someone would be engaged in the Zikr of Allah. We do not have that stamina, but by engaging in Zikrullah for at least some part of the night, and making Ta’leem of the words of Allah and Ahadith of Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, serenity and tranquillity will be enjoyed in the home. Furthermore, we will dispel the hidden evil elements which seek ‘accommodation’ in homes that are devoid of Allah’s remembrance. When the heart is full of Noor, and the home is full of Noor, what more can we ask for?
