Kalima Tayyibah - the purifier

Zikr Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on July 9, 2020

Kalimah Tayyibah is that special Zikr which is weightier than the 7 skies and 7 earths in the eyes of Allah SWT. The Auliya Allah would prescribe the excessive recitation of this Kalimah so the hearts of their Mureeds would become cleansed and purified from all spiritual diseases through the ‘furnace’ of La ilaha illallah. From the famous incident of Shaikh Sayyid Ali Al-Maghribi (R) and his Mureed, Shaikh Ulwan Al-Hamawi (R), it can be understood how through the Mashaikh prescribe Zikrull?h and put their Mureeds through the paces, purifying their hearts causing divine knowledge to flow and Ruhaniyah and Nuraniyah to emanate from them. Lesson is also taken regarding the condemnation levelled against the Shaikh, that Ambiya (AS) and even Allah SWT were not spared by the creation; those who follow in the footsteps of the Ambiya (AS) should be prepared for criticism. Imam Ghazali (R) mentions enemies as benefactors who can assist in one’s rectification and reformation, as seen in the example of Maulana Gangohi (R), who would read the letters of critics with the intention of rectifying any wrongs.

In trying and difficult times, the Believer always has clear direction, even if the entire world is enveloped in ‘fog’; hold onto A’maal, especially Durood Shareef which according to Ibn Hajar Asqalani (R) has proven effective over the centuries for alleviating pandemics. Practice ‘First tie, then rely,’ adopting the means according to the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), and placing one’s trust in Allah SWT.
