Bringing back Ruhaniyah (Spirituality) into our lives - Masjid Ebrahim, Newlands

Zikr Majlis, at Masjid-e-Ebrahim, Newlands on February 13, 2020

Ashaar: Siwa Tere Kohi

Allah alone is the one to Whom we turn, prostrate and worship. But, to understand the reality of La ilaha illallah is a lifelong effort! The person whose last words before he leaves this world are, ‘La ilaha illallah’ will enter Jannah, but without sacrifice and living the reality of La ilaha illallah, it will not automatically come to one’s lips at the time of death. When Nabi-Kareem (SAW) asked the Sahaba RA, and they asked each other, ‘How are you?’ their thoughts went to their Iman! Sayyidina Hanzalah RA, a Sahabi with such strong Iman and the unique honour of being ‘Ghaseelul Malaikah’ (one bathed by the Angels), sensing the ‘temperature’ of his Iman being ‘lower’ in the comfort of his home, compared to when in the company of Nabi (SAW) feared that he had become a hypocrite! In the home, a Muslim should be easy-going, humorous, cheerful – this is the Sunnah! We don’t need ‘valentines’; Deenul Islam teaches us that there must be love, romance, compassion and expression of appreciation between husband and wife 365 days of the year, and we have the most superior example in Nabi (SAW) and his wives! Fluctuation in Iman is not a sign of hypocrisy, and to constantly be in a state of high Iman is a rare condition as explained by Nabi (SAW), but like Sahaba RA, the concern for one’s Iman must be constant! Today, progress is measured on how much a person earns and owns, but the criterion of success in the eyes of Allah SWT is the level of Iman! Wake up the sleeping heart with the Zikr of Kalimah ‘La ilaha illallah,’ speak about its greatness and invite others towards it, then the reality will come into our hearts!
