Pearls from Mathnavi (P. 15) - Dialogue between Hazrat Muawiya R.A and Shaytaan

Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on January 28, 2019

The anecdote from the Mathnavi Shareef of Maulana Rumi (R) is discussed in which shaytan awakens Hazrat Muawiya (RA) for Salah, preventing the tremendous remorse he would have expressed by which Allah SWT would have elevated his status. Sayyidina Muawiya RA was from among the great Sahaba of this Ummah, entrusted by Nabi (SAW) with the responsibility of recording the Wahi. He has a glorious biography, was the embodiment of many outstanding qualities and carried out sterling services to the Ummah. Unfortunately, Sayyidina Muawiya (RA) is amongst the Sahaba who have been maligned by those intent on damaging the cause of Islam. The warning of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW), ‘Fear Allah regarding my Companions’ must be heeded!

Various lessons and inspirations are taken from this anecdote of Maulana Rumi (R). Allah SWT has created within man the propensity of sin, but the best of sinners are those who repent! The sighing of the sinners is beloved to Allah SWT, a means of great reward and gaining His proximity. Lesson is taken not to trust the agents of shaytan; they may appear to be sincere, but they always have a sinister intention. A person should not deliberately commit sin with the intention of making Taubah. In this incident regarding Sayyidina Muawiya (RA), it is seen how Allah SWT grants His special servants an insight by which they are able to unravel certain mysteries and secrets.
