Masjidun Nabawi and the Story of Thumama - Masjid Ebrahim, Newlands
Zikr Majlis, at Masjid-e-Ebrahim, Newlands on November 2, 2017
Madinah Munawarrah is the precious and beautiful ‘gem’ in the ring of the cities of the world, and should be the most beloved city to every Believer. The Masjid in the time of Nabi (SAW) was a simple structure, as the emphasis was rather on building the personalities and qualities of the Sahabah-e-Kiraam RA, who each became a shining star of Hidayah for the Ummah. Amongst the beauty of Masjidun Nabawi Shareef is that certain features, such as the pillars, have been maintained in their original position from the time of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW), and some have special significance. Thumamah bin Uthal, the chief of the powerful Banu Hanifah tribe was captured by the Sahabah-e-Kiraam RA, and upon the orders of Nabi (SAW) tied to one of the pillars in Masjidun Nabawi Shareef. After a few days Thumamah was released only to return to the Masjid proclaiming the Shahadah, having been moved by the Akhlaaq of Nabi (SAW) and the Khidmah of Sahabah-e-Kiraam RA. Allah SWT imbue us with such love for Madinah that our hearts are at all times restless for the opportunity to visit Madinah, where the Mu’min is like a fish in water! We should be desirous of indulging in the ‘fruits’ of Ibadah in Riyadhul Jannah, and presenting ourselves at the Raudha Mubarak where a person is enveloped in an ‘ocean’ of mercy between Arhamur Rahimeen and Rahmatulil Alameen! Anything associated with Madinah, even the seeds of the dates, is an object of Barakah to be loved and appreciated.
