Lamenting the condition of the Ummah in front Nabi Kareem (SAW) - Masjid As Siddique - North Beach
Zikr Majlis, at Durban on October 26, 2017
In the beautiful poetry, ‘Nabi-e-Akram’, it is as if the poet is standing at Raudha Mubarak, and presenting the lamentable condition of the Ummah to our beloved Nabi Muhammad (SAW). He begins by praising Nabi (SAW) in the words, ‘Nabi-e-Akram’, and ‘Shafi-e-Azam’. ‘Akram’ is one who is most Kareem, which is an attribute of Allah SWT, as well as Nabi (SAW), referring to one who gives generously to even the most undeserving. Standing at the Raudha Mubarak in front of our master Nabi Muhammad (SAW) is an amazing experience where one is filled with a mixture of awe and Sukoon, therefore we should prepare ourselves for this moment and proceed with the required etiquette. Despite the fear at presenting our unworthy selves, we gain courage knowing we are standing in front of two Kareems and won’t be deprived. Visiting Nabi (SAW) after his demise secures the intercession of ‘Shafi-e-Azam’ – the greatest intercessor. The poet then expresses his broken heartedness at the ‘ship’ of the Ummah which is being tossed about by the swells of the ocean, without a captain to guide it safely to the shore. Allah SWT will not change the condition of the Ummah until we don’t make the necessary changes, and come back onto the basic teachings of Deenul Islam, starting with Salaah. Deen is easy, all that is required is for us to stay away from haraam, enjoy what is halaal and read our Salaah!
