Preparation of the pious elders for death - Masjid Nurul-Huda, Randles Rd
Zikr Majlis, at Masjid Nurul Huda on October 19, 2017
The inevitability of death is one reality regarding which there is no dispute. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) when asked who the most intelligent and wise person is, responded: ‘The person who remembers death the most, and prepares for it the most’. In the words of Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sb (R), ‘Strange is the visa of life, the time of expiry is unknown’, therefore we have to be prepared at any given time for our departure ‘flight’. The purpose of the Majalis of the Mashaaikh, Islah-e-nafs and Ta’alluq with the Ahlullah is to put our lives in order so that when the time of death arrives there is no remorse and fear. To prepare for maut (death), a person’s Aqeedah must be perfectly in order at all times as, and all Huqooqullah and Huqooq-ul-Ibaad must be fulfilled. Our Pious Elders have set the example to be followed due to their concern for the Aakhirah, which is in emulation of the Sunnah of our beloved Rasool (SAW), who afforded the Sahabah-e-Kiraam RA the opportunity to settle any claim against him in the life of this world. Incidents from the lives of our Akabir, such as Hazrat Shaikhul Hind (R) who traveled from Deoband to Gangoh in order to clarify a matter of Aqeedah, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Raheem Raipuri (R) who gifted his last pairs of clothing to his Khadim when he sensed death was near, and Hazrat Mufti Shafi Sb (R) whose possessions were completely segregated from that of his household, show the amazing extent of preparation of the Pious Elders for death.
