The Mubarak night of the Laylatul Bara’ah has passed, signaling the coming of a great time of the year: the month of Ramadaan. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) was overjoyed at the sighting of the moon of Ramadaan. His generosity knew no bounds in this Mubarak month, even with regard to the spiritual Faidh (benefits) directed towards his Companions which caused them to feel a rise in their Iman. The rest of the year we may be in ‘cruise mode’, but we should prepare for Ramadaan so that for this one month we go into ‘overdrive’, and strive with istiqamah (steadfastness) to do our level best. The Pious Elders would expend their full energy in order to gain maximum benefit from this blessed month. Ramadaan comes like a breath of fresh air, bringing with it a spiritual atmosphere of ‘Spring’. The beautiful drizzle of Allah Ta’ala’s Rahmah and Nur descends on the hearts’ of the Believers. There is serenity and peace as the whole Ummah turns towards Allah SWT in dua in the moments before Iftaar, and then again at the time of Sehri. It is as if some gusts of the winds of Jannah blow on earth, and that beauty is experienced in our homes and Masjids. Allahu-Akbar! The electric atmosphere in Masjidun Nabawi Shareef and Baitullah cannot be described! The objective of Ramadaan as mentioned by Allah SWT in the Holy Quran is Taqwa, as the spirit of submission and obedience to Allah SWT brings closeness to Him. The people of Taqwa enjoy blessings in dunya, will be the closest to Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) on the day of Qiyamah, and Allah SWT has kept great rewards for them in the Hereafter.
