Remember Allah, whilst Earning a Living

Jumuah, at Musjid ut Taqwa on March 10, 2017

Nabi (sallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “The one who remembers Allah SWT amongst the heedless, his example is like that of a person who remains patient when people are running away from the battlefield.”
Allah SWT has made the system of this world in a certain pattern. In this system, Allah SWT has made it such that man has to strive, struggle, toil and sweat in order to earn a living. Allah SWT being All Powerful, could have easily provided without any effort of man e.g. The Bani Israeel were provided by Allah SWT with Manna and Salwa and Allah SWT will also provide sustenance for the dwellers of Jannah. But Allah SWT has made this world a place of striving.
Idleness, sitting back and doing nothing was not liked by Nabi (sallahu alaihi wasallam). Rather Nabi (sallahu alaihi wasallam) encouraged us by saying that, the person who strives, works and toils to provide for his family, is in the path of Allah SWT and that certain sins of man nothing other than the sweating and toiling, at his place of work, will cause these sins to be forgiven.
Allah SWT tells us in the Quran Shareef in Surah Jumuah that, when the Jumuah Salaah is over, we should spread out on the garth and seek the grace/sustenance of Allah SWT. Whatever we earn big or small is a “grace” from Allah SWT and should never be looked down upon. Allah SWT thereafter tells us, that at the same time we should not become negligent of His remembrance. In fact we should remember Allah SWT in abundance.
The example of a person who remembers Allah SWT when everyone else is heedless, is like that of a lantern burning and Allah SWT will show such a person his abode in Jannah, while he is living and he will be forgiven by Allah SWT. Allah SWT looks at such a person, such that He will never punish him after that and for every hair that he has on his head, he will receive a noor and light on the Day of Qiyamah.
