Significance of the 1st 10 days of Zul Hijja - Sails Musallah
Zikr Majlis, at Durban on September 8, 2016
The ten days and nights of Dhul Hijjah have great importance, the day of Arafah being especially significant. Allah SWT forgives the sins of the past and future year of the person who fasts on the day of Arafah. The day of Arafah for the Hujjaaj is the most special day in their lives as Allah SWT declares His complete forgiveness of every sin simply by virtue of being in Ihram and setting foot in the plain of Arafah. Shaytaan is most humiliated on this day seeing his lifelong efforts spent misleading the Hujjaaj wasted. Allah Rabbul Izzat through His sheer Mercy accepts the Hajj of all despite the deficiencies in the Hajj by virtue of the istighfaar, ibadah and duas of the Auliya Allah and pious servants in Arafah. We should maximize the benefits and rewards of these ten days and nights of Dhul Hijjah by fasting the days, making additional ibadah during the night and by engaging in excessive Zikr. The culmination of these great days is Eidhul Adha, a day of great Ibadah which is adorned by fulfilling all the Sunnahs of Nabi Muhammad (SAW) relating to Eid. The Takbeer-e-Tashreeq which is the combination of the Zikr of the Malaaikah, Ibraheem AS and Ismaeel AS is to be recited for twenty three Salaah from Fajr of the ninth Dhul Hijjah till Asr of the thirteenth Dhul Hijjah. Qurbani is a sombre occasion on which we should correct our niyyah, reflect and read the duas before and after the slaughter. We should hope for Allah SWT to accept our Qurbani and imbue us with the true spirit of sacrifice and submission.
