Wonderfull words of Advise of Hz Abdullah ibn Masood (R.A)
Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on July 18, 2016
Abdullah ibn Masud RA was a very close companion of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) and was one of the greatest authorities from amongst the Sahabah RA in knowledge of the Holy Quran and Fiqh. Wisdom of the Pious serve as important life lessons which should be kept close to the heart and practised upon. One piece of advice from this great Sahabi is ‘Do not pay attention towards the praise or reproach of others’, as success depends on the position of a person in the Court of Allah. A person should rather judge their own condition and pay little attention to the praise or criticism of people. In a similar vein he said, 'The one's who were happy or fond of you yesterday, they dislike you today, and those who used to dislike you are now fond of you' therefore one should adopt caution when it comes to matters of friendship and enmity. Further advice from Abdullah ibn Masud RA is 'Allah SWT gives the riches of the world to all and sundry', but Iman is only gifted to those whom Allah SWT loves. He reminded how hated the act of Zulm is in Islam by saying, ‘If a person were to stand between Hajre-Aswad and Maqaame-Ibraheem in ibadah for forty years but this person has love for an oppressor in his heart, Allah Ta'ala will raise even this person with the oppressors on the day of Qiyamah'. Abdullah ibn Masud RA had complete Yaqeen in Allah Ta’ala not fearing poverty for his daughters after his demise due to them reading Surah Waqiah every night as advised by Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW). Complete benefit from such wazifas can only be attained provided there is Yaqeen and abstention from sin.
