Ramadan's Lesson of Spending on the Poor
Jumuah, at Musjid ut Taqwa on June 22, 2018
Ramadaan is the spiritual rain that softens the hard hearts. It is a month of mutual sympathy. That spirit is meant to continue for the rest of the year. There is great virtue in bringing joy to another person. It is a guarantee of Allah Ta’ala being happy with that person on the Day of Qiyaamah. This can be in the form of bursaries, medical help, sponsorship or shelter. Selfishness is not the spirit of a Mu’min. The best of wealthy people is the one who knocks on the door of the poor before they knock on his. Allah Ta’ala wants us to become a means of providing for others from what He has given us. He has given the Muslim community an opportunity to create a good impression on the hearts of those around us. Allah Ta’ala has given us plenty of resources. A lot can be achieved if we take our responsibility seriously.
