Welcoming the Noble Guest of Ramadaan - Amanzimtoti Musallah
Zikr Majlis, at Amanzimtoti on May 25, 2017
As the month of Ramadaan is upon us we should make the intention to make it the best Ramadaan of our lives. This guiding principle will then help us to ensure that it becomes a life transforming Ramadaan in which maximum spiritual elevation and closeness to Allah SWT is achieved. On the 29th day of Shaban Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) gave an inspiring sermon to motivate his Companions, and the Ummah till Qiyamah for the coming of Ramadaan. In this he mentioned that Ramadaan is a great month in which there is a night greater than a thousand months, referring to Laylatul Qadr. Before Ramadaan even begins we should be psyched up and make the intention to achieve Laylatul Qadr. Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) explained that in this month fasting has been made compulsory, and the standing at night (in Taraweeh) an act of worship. We are fortunate that Allah SWT has afforded us the opportunity of listening to the entire Quran being recited in Taraweeh, and should not miss out on this important Ibadah. If our fervour wanes as the month progresses and we slow down on Tilawah, miss Salaah with Jama’ah and Taraweeh, then we have missed the very spirit of Ramadaan. A special feature of Ramadaan is that if we are able to maintain Piety, Righteousness and Ibadah with steadfastness during this month, Allah SWT opens the doors for us to continue as such for the other eleven months of the year. Nabi (SAW) taught us four things to do: Recite ‘La illahah illallah’ ‘Astaghfirullah’, and to seek Jannah and protection from the fire of Jahannum in great abundance during Ramadaan. With the fasting of the stomach, maintain the fasting of the organs by keeping them hungry from sin, and thus be in the constant Ibadah of Allah SWT.
