Drought and Dua for rain
Jumuah, at Musjid ut Taqwa on January 30, 2015
Drought-like conditions are prevailing which must make us realise the value of water. The value of such essential blessings is only realised on it's loss. Even spiritual needs are dependent on water, without which Taharah would become so difficult. Countless physical needs too are fulfilled by water in our lives. Despite it's importance man is grossly neglectful and ungrateful for this blessing. Specific sins cause the Azaab of withholding rain, particularly negligence in discharging Zakah and oppression. Salatul Istisqa and Duas seeking rains in time of water shortages is a Sunnah. Plenty of Istighfaar and sadaqah is should be resorted to. Incidents of istisqa in the time of Moosa AS, Umar RA and others was mentioned.
