Parrots are an amazing creation of Allah SWT, who have been given the unique abiity of imitating the speech of humans. Some parrots have become fluent in the Kalimah \u2018Laa illaha illallah\u2019, and Zikr of Allah SWT, due to the people of the home loving and frequently reciting the Zikr of Allah SWT. If Allah SWT has given parrots this ability, how much more will children, who are of the superior creation, be influenced by the home environment. In the story of \u2018The Trader and the Captive Parrot\u2019 of Maulana Rumi (R), the parrot attains freedom from captivity after feigning death. As Nabi (SAW) said, \u2018Mutu qabla an tamutu\u2019 which the Ulama have explained as killing off all unlawful and material desires, until all that remains are permissible desires. As the Ahlullah say, \u2018Make fana of the ana\u2019 meaning a person must annihilate the ego. Once a person has \u2018killed\u2019 the ego, he reaches the stage of \u2018fanayiat\u2019. Then just like the parrot he becomes \u2018liberated\u2019 from being affected or weighed down by criticism, praise or the things of this world. According to Moulana Maseehullah (R), fanayiat is the universal cure for all spiritual maladies. Acquire the state of fana in this world, so that in the Aakhirah the Ruh will achieve the ultimate freedom, flying under the Arsh of Allah and experiencing wonders beyond comprehension! Further lessons drawn from this story are the benefits and effect of following mashwara, and adopting humility.<\/p>\n
