\r\n

It is important to understand what is classified as \u201cDunya\u201d in order to eliminate \u201cHubbud-dunya\u201d \u2013 love of the world from the hearts. Dunya refers to all those things which distract us from and make us negligent of Allah- this is not confined to material things as is commonly misunderstood, but could include acts of spirituality if it falls within this definition. Having a balanced understanding of Dunya will help us to adopt a middle path and not go onto either extremes of over-indulgence or undue deprivation. Both cause spiritual decline. Like a ship needs water to sail, we need Dunya, but when it enters our hearts, we will \u2018drown\u2019 spiritually. People often complain of not tasting the sweetness of Ibaadah; this is mainly because of being \u2018bitten\u2019 by the \u2018snake of Dunya\u2019. The cure\u2026 \u201cDie before you die!\u201d, for a dead man craves not for worldly things. <\/p>\n
