Become Allah's and He will become yours

Zikr Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on February 11, 2021

Around the corner is the Mubarak month of Rajab, the harbinger of the month of Ramadan, therefore to prepare the Ummah psychologically, Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam would recite the Du’a, “Allahumma barik lana fee Rajab wa Sha’ban wa ballighna Ramadan.” Rajab is amongst the four sacred months, Imam Shafi’ (R) identifying the first night of Rajab as being from amongst the five nights in the year of special acceptance of Du’a. Thereafter comes Sha’ban, in which Nabi-Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam fasted excessively in preparation for Ramadan. We should make the best of this high spiritual season by preparing adequately, and Allah will grant us a beautiful Ramadan. How many were around last Ramadan who are no longer with us? Try our best to clear our schedules, cut out frivolous activities, and focus on Tilawah, Zikrullah and Amal-Salihah, so that we are fully ‘warmed up’, and when the ‘race’ of Ramadan starts, we keep pace and finish successfully. Inspiration is drawn from the couplets of Khwaja Azizul Hasan Majzub (R), which eloquently expresses his desire to make his occupation Allah’s remembrance, to recognise Allah, and to become His. The Hadith reminds us, he who becomes Allah’s, Allah becomes his; then, as Maulana Rumi (R) explains through the example of the loyalty and love of Ayaaz for King Mahmood, what is in the treasures of the earth and the skies will become yours!
