The entire spectrum of Deen, which includes Aqidah (beliefs), Ibadah (worship), Muamalaat (business dealings), Muasharah (social interaction), Akhlaq (character), etc., is extremely important and very vast! Allah SWT has instructed us in the Qur’an to ‘enter into Islam completely’, i.e. adopt all the teachings of Islam comprehensively. Allah SWT also warns us in the Qur’an, ‘Do not follow in the footsteps of shaytan’, because he was selective in his obedience, as a result of which he was cursed by Allah SWT. Adam AS on the other hand, out of forgetfulness, transgressed the order of Allah SWT. He was remorseful and repented sincerely unto Allah SWT, unlike shaytan who was rebellious and arrogant – that is the difference between Insan and shaytan! Allah SWT seeing the sincerity of Adam AS and Hawa AS inspired them with beautiful words of repentance, which He accepted as He is Oft-Forgiving and very Merciful and Kind. We should not let our life go past without learning the 99 names and attributes of Allah SWT, the reward of which is entry into Jannah! We should also make a practice of learning and reading the Sunnah duas – this is what gives our life value and gives us peace of heart and mind! Sayyidul Istighfar is a dua taught by Nabi-Kareem (SAW) which we should hold onto and recite abundantly, considering the prevalence of fitnah and transgression. Excel in your field of knowledge, but not at the expense of your Deen – the acquisition of knowledge of Deen is compulsory on every Muslim!
