Generating the love of Nabi - Al Ihsan Musallah, Ibnis Rd

Zikr Majlis, at Durban on November 16, 2017

The purpose of Naat Shareef, which is poetry in praise of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW), is to increase our love and attachment to him. The Iman of a Believer will not be perfected until Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) is more beloved to us than the entire creation of Allah SWT. We all have love for Nabi (SAW) on an intellectual level - Muhabbat Aqli, as we will not tolerate, and retaliate against anyone who shows disrespect towards him, regardless of how closely they may be related. We should strive to achieve love for Nabi (SAW) on the level of Muhabbat Tabíi, meaning that we experience that intense love for him, greater than our love for anything in the Universe. Such love is achieved by constantly reflecting on his virtue, beauty, perfection, qualities and character, and his lofty rank with Allah SWT. Allah SWT has elevated the name of Nabi (SAW), and made it such that whenever He is mentioned and remembered, Nabi (SAW) is also remembered and mentioned, such as in the Kalimah, Adhaan, Salaah etc. Allah SWT has praised Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) as the greatest and most beloved of His creation, and has mentioned his personality, characteristics, aspects of his Mubarak body, beautiful names and titles in the Holy Quran. We should ponder most of all on the great favour Nabi (SAW) has done to us as his Ummatis, and those favours which we are still to receive on the Day of Qiyamah such as the drink of Haudh-e-Kauthar, which alone will be sufficient to generate great love for him in our hearts.
