Advices of Fuzail bin Ayaaz RaH - Part 4

Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on February 27, 2017

The Auliya Allah are quoted because Allah SWT has placed effect in their words. Their message may be simple but from the heart, and because they practice on the advices they give, their words impact on the hearts’ of people. One of the major problems and spiritual maladies of our time is ‘Gheebat’ (backbiting). Hazrat Fudhail bin ‘Iyaadh (R) said that when a person backbites you, he assists you more than even a friend assists you. The reason is, that a person makes effort and sacrifices to accumulate good deeds, and through this act of backbiting then gifts the reward of those deeds to someone he dislikes. Hazrat Fudhail bin ‘Iyaadh (R) likened one who backbites to a person who erects a catapult and flings his good deeds in all directions leaving him empty handed. The Ahlullah do not indulge in speaking ill of people, as they are aware that Allah SWT can forgive that person and make his Islaah in an instant. Instead, they mention it to Allah SWT by making dua for forgiveness and reformation of that person, which earns Allah Ta’ala’s pleasure and is a means of reward. We should introspect on these weaknesses of ours, feel remorseful, and make a concerted effort towards reformation. The beautiful remedy given by Hazrat Moulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sb (R) if one made gheebat is to make sincere Taubah, and compensate that person by making dua and Isaalus-Thawaab on their behalf. We should embark on a ‘spiritual diet’ avoiding that which is spiritually detrimental and become ‘gheebat free’, just as we avoid ‘gluten’, etc.
