Ignorance - a spiritual malady P11

Islahi Majlis, at Musjid ut Taqwa on January 9, 2017

Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) gave great importance to the acquisition of knowledge, and then teaching and imparting it. In particular he mentioned acquiring the knowledge of the laws of inheritance. As we have seen in the recent past, Allah Ta’ala will cause the Ulama to leave this world one by one, and through their passing away knowledge will be extracted from this world. Once there are no Aalims left people will take the ignorant as their guides and will go astray. According to the Hadith of Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) we should therefore acquire knowledge before that stage of ignorance comes. This is the Ummah of learning and teaching, and through this a person’s knowledge becomes consolidated and it will encourage him to practice on that knowledge. It is human nature that we have short term memories and may forget some of that knowledge which we had acquired previously, but if a person practices on that knowledge he will remember it. Thereafter through the barakah of Taqwa, the knowledge of that which has been forgotten will be revived, a person’s memory will be sharpened and he will inspired to practice on the right things. Whilst acquiring knowledge we therefore have to acquire Taqwa, as Taqwa is the inner force which gives us the ability to practice upon knowledge, and knowledge gives us the ability to implement our Taqwa.
