The anecdote from the Mathnavi Shareef of Maulana Rumi (R) was discussed regarding the man who procrastinated uprooting his thorn tree, until it could not be uprooted at all! Maulana Rumi warns that a person should not procrastinate in the removal of evil qualities and habits, because as time goes, a person\u2019s willpower and strength to remove these qualities diminishes. We have to come out of ghaflah (negligence) and become dedicated to our Islah, by pondering on our faults and the means to rectify them. One of the greatest methodologies is to make constant dua for rectification; All?h SWT will make the means for our reformation! Many adopted the company of Mashaikh such as Hazrat Hakeemul Ummah, staying at the khanqah and requesting remedies for their spiritual deficiencies. The Mashaikh in turn were very particular about this Amanah and would \u2018panelbeat\u2019 their Muta\u2019alliqeen with reprimand and restrictions, until they emerged from the workshop like a brand new car! We should be those who willfully give up sin for the pleasure of Allah, for which we will be greatly rewarded. Otherwise, a person will continue in these evil ways until he is forced to give it up by circumstances, or Allah forbid, death! Throw off the shackles of ghaflah, chop the tree of ma\u2019siyah and with the courage of Hazrat Ali (RA) in Khaibar, pull out the gate of obstacles that are holding us back from reaching unto Allah SWT!<\/p>\n
