Pearls from Mathnavi (P. 2) - King Mahmood and the 5 robbers<\/h2>

Islahi Majlis<\/a>, at Musjid ut Taqwa<\/a> on October 23, 2017<\/span><\/p>
\r\n

The story of \u2018King Mahmood and the five robbers\u2019 from the Mathnavi Shareef of Moulana Jalaluddin Rumi (R) was discussed. In this story King Mahmood discards his royal garb, and sets out into the city at night to observe the condition of the people of his kingdom. This was a common practice adopted by the rulers of the past, such as Sayyidina Umar RA, out of love and concern for the people. In the story related King Mahmood meets a band of robbers, each with their own special skill. The king joins them in robbing the Royal Palace, only to order their arrest and execution the next day. However, one of the robbers recognises the king due to his \u2018special skill\u2019, securing safety from execution for himself and his companions. Through this story Moulana Rumi (R) draws lesson and inspiration that:
\n1.\tAllah SWT, the King of Kings, is with us whenever we\u2019re committing any wrong or sin.
\n2.\tAllah SWT gives His servant respite when he is doing wrong, before seizing and punishing him; but, the one who has Ma\u2019rifah of Allah SWT has a chance of securing His Mercy and Forgiveness.
\n3.\tIt is completely Allah SWT\u2019s prerogative should He wish to forgive or punish a person, and no one can question Him regarding His doings.
\nWe should never lose hope in the Mercy of Allah SWT. Even though we may be sinful, and wrongdoers, but recognising Allah SWT\u2019s attributes will eventually lead to repentance and salvation in the Hereafter.<\/p>\n
