Reviving the spiritual heart<\/h2>

The \u2018heart\u2019 of the science of Tasawwuf and Sulook is a matter of the heart - developing, reforming and purifying it. There are innumerable Ayats of the Holy Quran and Ahadith which speak about the heart, detailing what a sound heart is, and the various diseases of the heart. The Mashaaikh of Tasawwuf have identified six subtle spiritual faculties (Lataif-e-Sitta), and have various Adhkar to enliven each of these faculties through which great heights of spiritual connection with Allah SWT is achieved. Due to our weakness the contemporary Mashaaikh emphasise focusing just on the faculty of \u2018Qalb\u2019 (heart), through the Barakah of which all the other faculties will become spiritually enlivened. The poetry \u2018Dil badal de\u2019 is about asking Allah SWT to change a spiritually diseased and ghaafil (negligent) heart to one that is spiritually sound. The Spiritual Elders such as Moulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sb ?R hearts\u2019 were never ghaafil, even in moments of lightheartedness. They were very strict with their Muta\u2019alliqeen regarding ghaflat (negligence), because as Moulana Yunus Patel described, ghaflat is the \u2018hen\u2019 that lays the \u2018rotten eggs\u2019 of sin. The Mashaaikh know how to control the spiritual states of their Muta\u2019alliqeen. Just as a battery continuously on charge will explode, the heart that has reached full charge needs to be discharged at times. Spiritual growth can not be fast tracked, but by following the Adhkar and prescriptions of the Mashaaikh, as prescribed gradual growth with steadfastness is achieved. <\/p>\n
