Goodness of this world in 9 things -Jaame Masjid, Rustenburg<\/h2>

Jumuah<\/a>, at Jaame Masjid Rustenburg<\/a> on November 20, 2020<\/span><\/p>

Allah Ta\u2019ala mentions in the Holy Qur\u2019an a practice prevailing in days of jahiliyyah (ignorance) where people, due to a lack of understanding and knowledge, would make Du\u2019a only for dunya; for them, there would be no share in Akhirah. Allah Ta\u2019ala then rectifies this Du\u2019a and teaches the Believers the correct manner in which to supplicate:
\n\u201cRabbana aatina fiddunya hasanataw wa fil Aakhirati hasanataw waqina \u2018azaabannaar\u201d

To request for dunya alone is insufficient, as it can come to a person with harm and benefit, therefore it is better to seek Hasanah (goodness) in dunya and Akhirah, and seek Najaat (salvation) and Hifazat (protection) from hellfire. This particular Du\u2019a is considered to be one of the most comprehensives Du?as as it summarises and encapsulates the goodness of the entire collection of Du\u2019as from the Qur\u2019an and Ahadith. Whenever Nabi-Karim Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made Du\u2019a, he would include this Du\u2019a; when people asked him for Du\u2019a, he made Du\u2019a in these words and he would make this Du?a no less than 100 times a day! This is the Du\u2019a stipulated to be made in every round of every Tawaaf \u2013 an indication that Allah Ta\u2019ala wants to accept this Du\u2019a on our behalf. \u2018Allamah Alusi (R) explains Hasanah of dunya to be 9 things: Afiyah, a pious wife, pious children, pure wealth, others good opinion of one, knowledge of Deen, understanding of Deen, pious company and assistance over enemies.<\/p>\n
