With the changing political landscape occurring in our country; what is the purpose of the Muslim in this country or any other country? We have a sublime obligation to fulfil. Innumerable examples from the Holy Quran are given by Allah (SWT), which explain that what is beneficial will prevail and have longevity, because it is a source of benefit. We must be beneficial to mankind, the Ummah and the Deen of Allah (SWT). Reference was made to the speeches given by Shaikh Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi in Burma’s capital, Rangoon in 1964 and Dewsbury, U.K. in 1981.We need to analyse the events in history to reflect on our own situation. A comparison can be made as these countries had minority Muslim communities living in them. What befell them is an eye – opener for us. The message given is that the greatest asset given to the Muslim community is TIME. We need to use our time wisely for the sake of Allah (SWT); in the effort of Deen to benefit the Ummah and humanity. Every Ummati has a role to play. If every person leads a selfish existence; then there is a deep, spiritual malady that needs to be rectified. We have different capacities and talents which we can use to get involved in some kind of activity for the betterment of the Ummah. We have to rise to the occasion henceforth so that it can of benefit, most of all, in the Aakhirah.
